Trampoline means a strong taut sheet of canvas connected by resilient cords or in some cases by springs to a horizontal metal frame which is several feet high from the floor. People bounce on trampolines. These can be used for recreational and competitive purpose.
The inventor of trampoline was an American inventor George Nissen in 1935. He got the idea from the trapeze artists working in circus. He also invented 40 sports relating trampoline.
Trampoline pads are actually the covers of the trampoline springs. They act as the user’s protector from injury while using the trampoline. They are made of Polyethylene (PE) and Polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
Lack of trampoline pad could result in the fall of the user between the springs or he may get tangled in the springs and fall off the trampoline. It keeps the body parts from getting pinched into the springs.
To measure the required length of the pad measures the full length of the trampoline from one side to the exact opposite side. Do not round off the measurements it will create problems in the fitting of the trampoline pad. The trampoline springs are separately measured when they are not attached with the trampoline and also count the total spring holes. For a 8 and a half inches spring a 13 inches trampoline pad is required. The pad should be large enough to cover past the springs to avoid any kind of slipping.
The content of trampoline pad is polyethylene foam vinyl. It provides comfort and durability at the same time. It is stuffed with foam which is thicker at the frame but becomes thin as it reaches the springs. It ensures a safe landing while jumping and flipping. Sometimes an additional plastic skirting is also added for increased comfort.
The most durable way of trampoline pad attachment is the use of the elastic strap however other means of attachment are velcro, clips and shoe string straps.
Cleaning of the trampoline pad requires broom, water, towels, sponge, cleaning solvents and a garden hose. With the help of the broom sweep the particles away and then use a light cleanser and a bowl of water for detailed cleaning and scrub it with the help of a sponge and then rinse it with pressured water supply from a garden hose. Allow it to dry in the sun after removing excess water with the help of towels. Use of soap is not really required as the pads are made of vinyl.
Trampoline mats are sold in market to cover the trampoline when it is not in use and to avoid cracks and wear outs trampoline should be stored inside. Use of chemicals on trampoline is inhibited as it shortens its durability.
Trampoline pads are not necessary but they are safe if the trampoline is under children use. Besides the safety purposes it also increases the life of the parts it covers. They are designed to avoid mishaps due to improper landing of the user.
Cover the metal base, springs and hooks to protect your body. Most are made from polyethylene foam or vinyl that has the strength to endure repeated use and environmental elements. If you jump on a trampoline and land too close to the edge, these pads will protect your body from landing on the metal and suffering an injury.
Trampoline pads are divided in following three categories: master, standard and budget pads. These are available in different shapes and sizes like round, rectangular, octagonal and square.
